
Nanoose Volunteer Fire Department
Nanoose Bay is located on the
central east coast of Vancouver Island. The Nanoose Fire Protection
District covers approximately 36 sq miles which is made up of forest
land and a unique wild land / urban interface. The Nanoose Volunteer
Fire Department is currently made up of 23 dedicated men and women
from all walks of life. We responded to 300 calls in 2006 that
consisted of Medical Emergencies, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Structure
Fires, Chimney Fires, Grass and Bush Fires, Vehicle Heavy Equipment
and Boat Fires, Flammable and Combustible Fuel Leaks, Compressed Gas
Leaks, and Dangerous Goods Spills.
Burning Ban Info
Open Fire Bans in Coastal Fire Centre
Open Fire Bans are in effect.
Effective at noon on June 3 2009 and until further notice, Category 1 and 2 open fire is prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre.
Category 1 open fire means an open fire that burns piled material no larger than one meter high and one meter wide. This Category 1 open fire ban does not prohibit the use of campfires.
A Category 2 open fire means an open fire that burns piled material no larger than two meters high and three meters wide, or grass over an area less than 0.2 hectares (2000 square meters) in size.
This open fire ban applies within BC Parks and to all public (Crown) and private land outside of organized areas. This fire ban does not apply within municipalities or regional districts that have their own burning bylaws.
